This is the page for the latest news and information concerning any and all art projects, company news as well as appearances.

Peace and blessings. In December, I will be working on accomplishing the following: Issue One of the Michael R. Sloane © comic book, a sketchbook of illustrations, and learning animation (which would take me into January 2010). During 2010, I will be attending the following conventions: ECBACC 2010 in Philadelphia, PA and (hopefully) Onyx Con 2010 in Atlanta, GA. I will post updates.

Greetings and Blessings to all visitors! Right now I am currently finishing my Bachelors in Business Administration--concentration in Marketing (finish date is Nov. 8, 2009). After that date I will be finishing issue one and issue two of my comic book series Michael R. Sloane. I will also publish by the end of the year (hopefully) a sketchbook of various illustrations in both black and white and in color, I'm still calculating on the purchase price and It will be made available through the Marketplace section in the Books section. Thank you for the many visits to my site, I wish that more visitors would purchase what I already have for sale to make it worthwhile to continue--but I will continue to produce my creations for my enjoyment and benefit--even if no one purchases them.

I am planning to attend three conventions next year: The East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention in Philadelphia, PA; the Onyx Con in Atlanta, GA; and the Black Age of Comics Convention in Chicago, IL. I'll post updates as needed. I am also working on forms and other documents for those future customers who may want to request a commissioned illustration for their collection. These forms will be featured on the HOTEP Studios page.

I'm sending this out to let folks know who live in the Sacramento, CA area that I'll be appearing at Carol's Books at 1913 Del Paso Blvd. on Saturday July 25, 2009. I'll be arriving at approximately at 2pm and will be there to sign the issue zero of my action/adventure comic book series and read from my first book of poetry (which I'll sign as well)!

Happy New Year! Currently I'm working on issue 1 of the Michael R. Sloane comic book series, updating pages for the "Our Story" section (this will have pages of information and art examples of African Americans in the comic book and newspaper fields). This should hopefully evolve into a collected book. I am also working on the following: an animated trailer for promoting the comic book series, gathering drawings for my sketchbook series - Scribbles, gathering artwork for an 'art of' collection of my work in various media; title unknown at this time.

There is a lot of things I am involved in: co-designing and editing a newsletter for the National African American Congress (NAAC), pre-production on a graphic novel, marketing designs, and research.

These items PLUS the Michael R. Sloane mini-comic will be available and (really) premiere at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention (ECBACC) in Philly, PA this May 17th at Temple University. Our compilation music CD, SLOANE, is still available for purchase.

First, to all the veterans who served, and are still serving, tomorrow is for ya'll. The work is back on track. I've been hit with that flu, and it took me a real good moment to get back to function so I can hit the drawing board and finish the 10-page comic, as well as other art projects. My apologies for not keeping the site updated, but being sick and getting well was the priority. I'm currently penciling page #8 of the SLOANE ashcan and inking the completed previous pages #4 - 7. I'm also completing images to include in my poetry book, Peep Game, as well as putting together a sketchbook, which will be about 30 pages. I also have a major project in the works. Stay Tuned!

I'm a singular artist, with a full-time, bill-paying job...thanks for your utmost patience and understanding.

Unfortunately, the SLOANE Ashcan comic will not be available at ECBACC . I will have the compilation music CD and artwork for sale. I am going to instead produce the ashcan, and the character Introduction issue (both will be made available for purchase through a link to the store at lulu.com) and then begin work on a graphic novella, which is the entire series that I was going to do individually in the beginning, but now, I am going to when it is completed, as a graphic novel. It is planned as a hardcover, deluxe edition and a softcover version. I will post the individual pages on the site as they are fully completed in the comics page section of NINE Nappy Publishing.

Just added the new book PEEP Game in the Marketplace section under books. There is a link to view preview pages, and to purchase a copy. We also have a MySpace page as well (http://www.myspace.com/ninenappypublishing).

The HOTEP Studios website will be no more. I have added those pages to this website, as you can see by the links buttons above. I am still working on finalizing an overall look for this site, thanks for visiting.
